He's the original gearhead in my family, has a thing for old brit sports cars, and used to compete in amateur hill climbs with his (then new) Triumph TR3. Anyway, we were talking cars, and he told me about how his college roommate had a '49 XK120 with a bonnet belt, fading silver/blue paint, and a ripped up top that he brought over from France. In other words, it was glourious. Anyway, he was trying to sell it for $700 but my great grandfather wouldn't let my grandpa sell the brand new '58 Plymouth Fury that he had bought him in order to buy the Jaguar. My great grandfather was clearly a completely sane man, and the opposite of a Jalop. Anyway, a year later, he traded the Fury in for his Triumph and that was apparently the best car he's ever owned. I'll do a longer write up of my grandpa's awesome choice in cars and the impact that's had on me, and how his tastes in cars transformed him into a farmboy from rural PA became a european sports-car driving world-class chemist and semi-professional race car driver later, once its not pushing midnight and all that.

Can't wait. I love old British sports cars.
TR3s were giant killers back in the day. Unrefined and brutal, but rather quick. Very jealous.
